An increasing number of our patients are choosing affordable quality implant-supported dentures over traditional dentures. Contact our office today to find out more about implant-supported dentures in Virginia Beach.
Implant-supported dentures are a way to replace missing teeth in order to restore the aesthetics of your smile and to regain your ability to eat all of your favorite foods. Instead of resting on the gums, implant dentures attach to posts or a metal bar secured into the jawbone. Depending on the style, the denture itself may be fixed in place or removable. Implants are suitable for both the upper and lower arches.
The first step is a comprehensive dental examination to ensure that you are a suitable candidate for implant-supported dentures. If you and your dentist determine that the procedure is right for you, you’ll return to our office to have anywhere from two to six implant posts put in place. The implants are then allowed to heal and fuse with your existing bone for several months. At that time, you will need to return to our office for a second procedure to have the implants exposed, which requires a small incision in the gum. Once the incision has healed, you’ll return a third time to have the actual denture put in place. The entire process typically takes five to seven months. In certain cases, the dentist may be able to use a one-step procedure that allows the dentures to be put in place sooner.
We are dedicated to providing affordable quality implant-supported dentures to our patients. Your implant-supported dentures cost can vary based on the type of implant used, the number of implants needed, underlying dental issues, and other factors. We will discuss your final costs in detail following your initial consultation.
Most of our patients who choose implant-supported dentures do so because of the increased stability and the natural feel and function. You can smile, talk, and eat without ever worrying about your dentures slipping. Because the denture is anchored to the implant posts, you never have to use adhesives. The posts also reinforce the jawbone, which means that there is less bone loss.
Implant-supported dentures are easy to care for and are durable. If you choose a denture that is permanently affixed, you simply brush and floss as normal. If you opt for a removable denture, you will need to take it out each night for a thorough cleaning. You should also see your dentist regularly to have the dentures adjusted and the implant attachments inspected to ensure that they are not worn or damaged.
If you are tired of a smile that is marred by missing teeth but don’t want the hassle of traditional dentures, implant-supported dentures may be right for you. Contact our office in Virginia Beach today to schedule a consultation.
